Responsible wagering.

Imagine what you could be buying instead.

marantellbet encourages customers to use the responsible wagering tools provided and to avoid wagering more than they can afford to lose.

Tools available

  • Deposit limits. Set, lower, increase or remove a limit on how much can be deposited over a selected period. Decreases to deposit limits take effect immediately. Increases or removal of a deposit limit are subject to a seven-day cool-off period before they apply.
  • Loss limits and spend limits. Distinct from deposit limits, these cap net losses or total wagering spend over a selected period and are available on request through account settings or customer service.
  • Reality checks and time-out features. Session-time reminders and voluntary short-term breaks (time-outs) can be set from within the account.
  • Self-exclusion through the account and via the National Self-Exclusion Register (BetStop).
  • Activity statements available inside the account at any time.
  • Pre-commitment offered during account opening in accordance with the National Consumer Protection Framework.

Indicators of gambling harm

Common warning signs include:

  • Spending more time or money on wagering than intended.
  • Chasing losses with larger or more frequent bets.
  • Hiding wagering activity or spending from family or friends.
  • Borrowing money, selling possessions or using credit to gamble.
  • Missing work, study or family commitments because of wagering.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable, guilty or depressed about wagering.
  • Being unable to stop or cut back despite wanting to.

Indicators of problem gambling

Clinically recognised indicators include preoccupation with gambling, needing to wager increasing amounts to feel excitement, repeated unsuccessful attempts to control or stop, restlessness or irritability when trying to cut back, gambling to escape low mood, lying to conceal involvement, jeopardising relationships or employment, and reliance on others to relieve gambling-related financial pressure.

Self-assessment

If you are unsure whether your wagering has become a problem, consider these questions:

  • Have you bet more than you could afford to lose?
  • Have you needed to wager larger amounts to get the same feeling?
  • Have you returned another day to try to win back losses (chasing)?
  • Have you borrowed money or sold anything to get money to gamble?
  • Have you hidden the extent of your wagering from people close to you?
  • Has wagering caused health, financial or relationship problems?

Answering yes to one or more of these may indicate gambling harm. A free, confidential self-assessment is available at gamblinghelponline.org.au.
